21 U.S. Destinations to Visit in 2021: Rehoboth Beach, Delaware

There’s no shortage of coastal cities and towns along the Atlantic Ocean that attract thousands of people every weekend throughout the summer months. Traditionally, the boardwalk towns catered to the younger generation and families on day trips to cool off during the dog days of summer. That is definitely not the case at Rehoboth Beach, nicknamed the “Nation’s Summer Capital” and the location of upscale boutique hotels, highly rated restaurants, and award-winning breweries, as well as the traditional family amusement and entertainment. The beach and boardwalk will always be the main attractions, but nearby Delaware Seashore State Park is also popular for a day of hiking, biking, boating, or fishing. The park is also home to one of the few museums in the area— the Indian River Life-Saving Station is a historical treasure.

Make 2021 the year to bike, walk, play, and eat your way down the boards in this classic seaside town. Book a hotel or inn with ocean views within walking distance to the entire town. Between beach activities, hop on the rides at Funland, zoom down the waterslides at Jungle Jim’s, and win some tickets playing games at Zelky’s Arcade. Take a stroll down Rehoboth Beach’s famous Penny Lane, loaded with cute shops and boardwalk food— don’t miss the famous Thrasher’s French Fries. Every year the dining options expand— a few of the popular spots are Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats, Fins Fish House & Raw Bar, and Henlopen City Oyster House.
