Why should I pay to talk to a Check-it-Off travel consultant?

We offer three travel advisory services, as well as a premium add-on travel concierge service to assist clients while traveling on their actual trip. Our products are all targeted towards clients who intend to plan personal or business travel in the United States in the next 24 months. The process introduces our travel consultants to our clients to generate ideas for the creation of a custom travel itinerary.

A Brainstorming session is intended to assist you with pinpointing a state, travel region, or destination to explore in the future. Once we understand your travel preferences, we will make suggest attractions, activities and events across the United States that you may enjoy and hopefully use our Custom Travel Planning service for the itinerary. The brainstorming process is also a great way to understand our travel advisory process and to get you comfortable with our services.

Our Custom Travel Advisory service can help you with itineraries for any length of trip. The service costs $35 per day and is customized to you and no two itineraries are alike. For instance, you might want every breakfast, lunch and dinner scheduled out in the itinerary, while someone else might prefer restaurant recommendations. We will significantly reduce your time spent and the stress involved with planning personal travel in the United States.

For an additional fee of $15 per day, our Premium Travel Service enhances your travel experience by providing a phone number to one of our travel consultants for assistance with changes that may be necessary during your travel on the custom itinerary. The Premium Travel Service is a daily concierge service while traveling; however, it does not allow for a complete revision of the trip after the itinerary has been finalized and delivered to you.

We also offer a Your Trip Review service for people that like to plan their own trips and have already created an itinerary for future travel. This service is perfect if you enjoy researching and planning your own trips but would like to have a discussion with a travel consultant to ensure you didn’t miss any must-see attractions or experiences.

How much does it cost?
  • The 15 to 30-minute Brainstorming session is free.
  • Custom Travel Planning costs $35 per day, therefore a three day trip costs $105.
  • Premium Travel Planning costs $50 per day, the additional charge is for the daily concierge service which includes a direct line to your personal travel consultant during your trip.
  • Business Travel Planning begins at $50 per day, but prices are determined based on trip-by-trip basis. The scope of the business trip will be discussed on the initial call and an invoice will be sent prior to beginning the planning process.
  • The Your Trip Review service begins at $50 per week. An invoice will be prepared and sent for the actual cost and is mainly dependent upon the thoughtfulness of the itinerary that we receive from the client.

We charge a 3.5% convenience fee for all services. The fee is necessary to partially offset the costs of services we use to create and send custom itineraries and concierge services to our clients.

What is the refund policy?

The travel planning process is intended to be completed in less than two weeks from the initial travel planning call to the delivery of the final itinerary. If we are unable to complete the itinerary due to lack of response from the client and the process exceeds 30 days from the initial planning call, we will not refund payment for services.

We will provide a full refund for travel planning services at any time prior to furnishing the first draft of the custom travel itinerary. The only requirement is a written refund request to the travel consultant.

Once the itinerary has been completed, we will try to assist with reasonable changes to your custom travel itinerary but cannot guarantee that we will be able to provide timely edits to the itinerary even if the premium travel service is purchased.

Are you a travel agent?

We are not travel agents and our standard policy is not to book airfare, hotels, tours, etc. for our clients. Our fee structure is per day and we do not receive any compensation when you book with a hotel, rental car company, restaurant, or any activity across the travel and tourism industry. During the planning process we will suggest transportation, hotels, tours, and other activities to you and provide links to those suggestions, making the booking process very straightforward. We will also suggest and assist with enrolling in frequent flier and awards programs if applicable. In short, we will be as accommodating as possible with each unique client. Our goal is to provide the highest levels of service in a timely manner.

How long does it take to receive my itinerary?

After the initial phone conversation and a follow-up call to discuss the draft Itinerary, we will provide the final itinerary and calendar within five days. This is dependent upon your availability to provide feedback and to finalize the itinerary. The amount of time will fluctuate based on the length and complexity of the trip, but five days is the goal and our standard. It is impossible to provide a final itinerary without your feedback.

What will I receive before I depart for my trip?

When we develop a custom travel itinerary for you, you will receive an itinerary with the agreed upon activities we discussed on the phone calls and emails, that includes secondary options for each day of travel. The itineraries are emailed to you in downloadable adobe format and will also be sent to you via a daily electronic calendar for easy viewing on your smartphone or computer while traveling. You will be required to accept the calendar invite in order to view the daily itinerary.

Is it possible to make changes to the itinerary after receiving the final version?

In most cases we can accommodate minor changes, but we cannot create an entirely new itinerary. We suggest purchasing the Premium Travel Planning service if you prefer having a travel consultant available to assist with changes to your daily itinerary while traveling.

What happens if my travel is unexpectedly delayed?

We will do our best to assist with travel delays, but it might not be possible to completely change your itinerary in the event of a significant delay or the cancellation of a trip. With the purchase of the Premium Travel Planning service, you can alleviate some of the stress related to delays by having a travel consultant available to assist with changes to your daily itinerary.

Is Check-it-Off Travel compensated when I book a hotel, airline, rental car, tour or visit a particular attraction?

We are an independent travel advisory firm and we do not receive compensation from companies we recommend for your travel.

How can I access the Check-it-Off Travel Database?

Currently the database is used only by our travel consultants. We have a lot of exciting things happening within Check-it-Off Travel and hope to allow users of our service to access the database in the future. We will keep you updated on our progress with additional features and services.
