Lynchburg, Tennessee is synonymous with the Jack Daniel Distillery. In 1886, Jack Daniel registered the first distillery in the United States. Today you can tour the distillery and hear stories about the iconic brand. Extend your visit a short distance to Lynchburg Square and have lunch at Miss Mary Bobo’s Boarding House and Restaurant. Stroll around the square and peek inside the Lynchburg General Hardware Store. The locals love entertaining guests just about as much as they love making Tennessee Whiskey. Let them show you around!!
Did you Know? Jack Daniel’s is the top-selling American whiskey in the world; however, you can only buy special collector products at the distillery. Otherwise, it’s a “dry” county and laws prohibit the sale of alcohol.
Distillery Tours
Get your tour ticket at Jack Daniel’s Visitor Center & Museum. Once your tour number is called, you will assemble for a small group photo. The pleasant and informative tour condenses a 3 to 5 day distilling process to approximately one hour.
A few of our highlights include:
– See Cave Spring Hollow, the water source for the product line
– Take a picture next to a life-sized statue of Jack
– Walk in Jack’s original office and see the infamous floor safe
– Watch the charcoal mellowing process

The Flight of Jack Daniel’s Tour – ($20 / 90 minutes) takes the dry county tour route with a twist— take a detour to the tasting room in the historic Barrelhouse 1 – 14 to sip a flight of five Jack products.
The Angel’s Share – ($30 / 90 minutes) takes the dry county tour route, then you’ll head to the tasting room in historic Barrelhouse 1-14 to taste whiskey drawn from individual barrels.

Lynchburg Town Square
The town square is home to a dozen shops and restaurants. The most popular is the Lynchburg Hardware General Store. Don’t expect to find any hardware, instead shop a large selection of Jack Daniel’s memorabilia. They have a lot of fun, unique items; we like the repurposed barrel furniture and accessories. Finally, stop at the Lynchburg Cake and Candy Company to get a treat for the drive to your next destination
