There are many reasons to visit Cooperstown in Upstate New York. There’s a large baseball museum, an art museum, a historic hotel, and arguably the best Belgian-style ales in the United States— Brewery Ommegang. It all started in 1997 with the Ommegang Abbey Dubbel, a traditional Trappist-style dark ale. While visiting Cooperstown, your short to-do list should absolutely include a stop at Ommegang’s traditional Belgian farmhouse. The brewery includes a visitor center, tap house, and café with outdoor dining options.
Behind the brewery is an amphitheater that hosts a Summer Concert Series. This isn’t just a venue for local bands; past performers include Wilco, Lyle Lovett, Jack White, The Avett Brothers, John Prine, Bonnie Raitt, and The Old Crow Medicine Show. You can purchase tickets in advance on their website.
On most Friday evenings in the summer from 7pm – 9pm, there’s live music, cold beer, and a bonfire. Plan your visit to experience all the Brewery Ommegang has to offer, all summer long.
