Exploring a Show Cave: Luray Caverns

Jul 6, 2019 | Blog, South, Nature & Wildlife

Luray Caverns is a must-see during your travels through the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia. The caverns are located just off Skyline Drive in Shenandoah Valley. This is a perfect detour while on your Shenandoah National Park trip. Enjoy a one-hour guided tour through the largest cavern in the eastern United States. Descend over 200 feet to cathedral-sized rooms full of natural formations. See stalactites, stalagmites, flowstone, and mirrored pools while your guide explains the geology and history of the cave on your 1.5-mile walk. Bring a jacket— the caverns are 54 degrees year-round.
