Five Fantastic Bourbons

In recognition of National Bourbon Day, we are highlighting five US distilleries that are worth a trip. Not only have we included award-winning bourbons on the list, but each of the distilleries have tours, tastings or events for you to enjoy.

Angels Envy Bourbon

Angel’s Envy

Located in Louisville, Kentucky, Angel’s Envy Distillery produces artisan bourbon from local ingredients. The Bourbon is distilled and aged for 4-6 years in American white oak barrels, and then aged for three to six additional months in port casks.

Visit the distillery in downtown Louisville and take a one-hour guided tour and complimentary tasting. Check the website for other events and experiences, including bottling your own bourbon and cocktail classes to perfect your drink-making skills.

Breckenridge Distillery

Breckenridge Distillery

Located in Breckenridge, Colorado, Breckenridge Distillery produces award-winning bourbons and claims to be “The World’s Highest Distillery”. Breckenridge Bourbon is aged for at least two years in American white oak barrels.

Try: Breckenridge Bourbon Whiskey

Visit the distillery in Breckenridge for a complimentary tour and tasting of Vodka, Gin, and Bourbon. Upgrade the experience for $10 and taste a wider array of Breckenridge Distillery’s award-winning spirits. If you are in downtown Breckinridge, stop by their tasting room on Main Street.

Hudson Bourbon

Tuthilltown Spirits

Located in the Hudson Valley region of New York, Tuthilltown Spirits Farm Distillery is New York’s first whiskey distillery since prohibition. The distillery takes Hudson New York Corn Whiskey, stores it in American Oak barrels and produces a smooth 100% corn bourbon.

Try: Hudson Baby Bourbon

Tours cost $12 and leave from the visitor center on Saturdays and Sundays. Tastings cost $10 and include a selection of five spirits from the selection of whiskeys, vodkas, gins, liqueurs, and other unique, handmade spirits.

Virgil Kaine Bourbon

Virgil Kaine

Located in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, Virgil Kaine focuses on crafting approachable and premium blended and infused whiskeys, ryes, and bourbons. The spirits are inspired and crafted by accomplished chefs applying the experimentation of a professional kitchen to the art of craft whiskey distilling.

Virgil Kaine hosts events throughout the year. Don’t miss the  Annual Ginger Harvest Party on Johns Island, SC, hosted by Virgil Kaine and their partners.

Woodinville Distillery

Woodinville Whiskey Co.

Located near Seattle, Washington, the Woodinville Whiskey Co. distillery is where Kentucky meets Washington. The award-winning bourbon is produced from corn, rye, and malted barley, then aged for five years in seasoned barrels prior to filling.

Try: Woodinville Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Visit the distillery for a tour and tasting. Complimentary 40-minute tours are available Friday through Sunday for a behind-the-scenes look at the distillery and production process. The tastings cost $10 and can be applied towards the purchase of spirits.
