What’s New at the Garden: The Missouri Botanical Garden is Open!

Aug 6, 2020 | Midwest, Nature & Wildlife

Opened to the public in 1859, the Missouri Botanical Garden is a National Historic Landmark as well as a world-class center for science and conservation, education, and horticultural display. The 79 sprawling acres change with the seasons, but some current highlights are the Giant Victorian water lilies (with leaf spans up to 6 feet!) in the reflecting ponds and the Gladney Rose Garden, a circular garden with arbors.

The Missouri Botanical Garden features several beautiful International Gardens. Stroll through the 14-acre Japanese Garden, one of the largest in North America, reflecting centuries of tradition and Japanese cultural influences. The Strassenfest German Garden showcases some of the native flora of Germany and central Europe, as well as plants discovered by native Germans. It is designed as a woodland setting, with a natural, informal appearance.

New Garden Guidelines

The Missouri Botanical Garden is committed to the well-being of its guests. The Garden has implemented enhanced protocols and procedures to provide a safe family-friendly experience. Advance online ticket purchase is recommended, and a limited number of walk-ups will be admitted each day. Expect adjustments to dining options and indoor attractions. Review the new guidelines before you go.
