Off-Season Road Trip: Mystic Hot Springs

Mar 13, 2022 | West, General Travel

Our off-season Utah Road Trip to The Mighty 5 national parks has sadly come to an end, but we left with dozens of reasons to come back as soon as possible! Next time, we’ll plan to visit during late August, missing the summer crowds and focusing on off-road adventures and a few rafting trips.

With two days to go before our flight home, we couldn’t think of a better activity than a soak at Mystic Hot Springs in Monroe, Utah. The rustic setting, relaxing water, and budget-friendly cost ($25/person for 2 hours) was perfect, especially after hiking 50 miles the last five days. The springs are fed from the hill above, and there are plenty of bathtubs and also a few larger soaking areas. You might have seen these bathtubs in travel photos. The pictures are a little deceptive, the water is very clean, and, unlike many natural hot springs, there is no sulphur smell. If you’d like to spend a little more time here, there are also vintage buses available for overnight stays.

Travel Tip: We would highly recommend booking your soak well in advance, especially if you want to relax in a tub on the weekend. The number of tickets sold is capped for every two-hour period, allowing guests to enjoy the multiple bathtubs and pools without crowding. If you didn’t bring towels or pack swimwear, make a quick detour to one of the stores in Monroe before your time slot. Enjoy, it’s really a peaceful and unique place with great views of the valley below!!
