The Iconic Glade Creek Grist Mill at Babcock State Park, West Virginia

Things to Do
- Photograph the Glade Creek Grist Mill, an exact replica of the Cooper’s Mill that once stood on the site and representative of others dotted across Appalachia. During the weekends, the grist mill is operational and open to the public for a behind-the-scenes look.
- Spend a night in a cabin or camping around Glade Creek and Boley Lake. From April through October, the park offers 28 cabins located along Glade Creek and deeper into the wooded areas of the park. Camping at the 52-unit campground is also very popular during the spring through fall operating season.
- The park features over 20 miles of hiking trails looping through the forest and leading to scenic points of interest and overlooks. There’s a trail for everyone, from an easy stroll to a challenging climb.
- Spend an afternoon paddling on Boley Lake. Bring your own canoe or kayak or rent one from the onsite marina at the lake. There’s also a boat ramp to launch small boats— check with the park for rules and restrictions. Pack your fishing gear (license required) to reel in largemouth bass, bluegill, trout, and channel catfish.
