The Mysterious Coral Castle Museum: Homestead, Florida

May 23, 2021 | South, Museums & Attractions

Most homes are built with power tools and modern building techniques, not so the Coral Castle. This must-see attraction is the creation of Ed Leedskalnin—from 1923 to 1951 the large limestone rocks were carved, moved, and assembled in secret, using homemade tools and “supernatural powers.” Originally called Ed’s Place and renamed Rock Gate, it’s now simply known as the Coral Castle and has been added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Today, you can take a guided or self-guided tour of the unique sculpture garden surrounding the castle. Everything is carved from limestone, including a sundial, telescope, and functioning rocking chairs. This is one curious landmark that you really have to see to believe and a great destination to include on your next trip to South Florida.
