Winter Adventure in Bend, Oregon

Snowshoeing
Tumalo Falls Trail is one of the most spectacular scenes in the area. One of Oregon’s tallest waterfalls cascades 89 feet to the canyon floor. When the temperature drops, the falls can ice over and create a beautiful winter sight. Snowshoe the mostly flat 5.2-mile out and back trip.
Tumalo Mountain snowshoeing offers great views of the area but will be more strenuous. The two-mile trail is all uphill to the summit, but you can rest a little on the downhill trip back to the car.
If you’d like to snowshoe but you’re nervous about going it alone, Wanderlust Tours offers guided snowshoe adventures. Learn about local history, nature, and wildlife from your knowledgeable guide.

Skiing and Snowboarding
In just 30 minutes you can reach the Mt. Bachelor ski area. The mountain features everything from tame areas for the beginner to the more challenging runs for the well-seasoned skier or snowboarder. Mt. Bachelor also has a Snowblast Tubing Park, open Friday to Sunday through April.
If cross-country skiing is more your thing, the Wanoga Snow Play Sno-Park Cross-Country Loop is an easy, level trail that extends for two miles through the pine forest. They also have the only sanctioned sledding hill, so it’s a popular area with families.
Sled Dog Rides
The Oregon Trail of Dreams is a sled dog tour offered on Mt. Bachelor. Add a magical experience to your Mt. Bachelor getaway with a ride behind a real dog sled team! Stay snug and warm in the sled while the team, along with a professional musher, takes you on an exciting adventure. Note: Advanced reservations are required.

Ale Trail
When you’re ready to relax after all your outdoor activity, grab a few brews on the local ale trail. The Bend Ale Trail is the largest beer trail in the West. You can pick up your trail passport at the Bend visitors center or in your first brewery of the day. If you make it to 10 breweries, you get a prize, and you don’t have to do them all in one day! The trail includes 22 breweries and ranges from Sunriver to Sisters to Redmond and, of course, Bend.
