21 U.S. Destinations to Visit in 2021: Cheyenne, Wyoming

A member of the square state club, Wyoming is home to iconic national parks, stunning outdoor recreation areas, and western small towns. Undoubtedly, the classic family summer road trip to America’s West will cross the state heading towards Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, and Devils Tower. Keeping with the theme of family fun and outdoor recreation, the state capital of Cheyenne may be slightly off your direct route but it’s worth a detour for many reasons. For most of the year, visitors come to tour the museums and attractions while exploring the downtown historic district and taking photos with the eight-foot-tall boots that are scattered around the city. However, for 10 days in the middle of every summer, families arrive for “The Daddy of ’em All,” the world’s largest outdoor rodeo and western celebration. Cheyenne Frontier Days has something for everyone, from carnival rides and food to professional bull riding and live entertainment. One of the highlights, and a bucket list event for any music enthusiast, is the Frontier Nights concert series with performances by the biggest names in musical entertainment. From July 23 to August 1, 2021, the city that is known for cowboys and trains will put on a festival “Unlike Any Other” with a whole lot of old-fashioned family fun.
